This paper briefly describes the objectives of the
TREND (Toward Real Energy-efficient Network Design)
Network of Excellence of the European Commission 7th
Framework Programme, and outlines some of the main results
obtained so far within the project, looking at wireless access networks, core networks, and content distribution issues.
